Meet Our Pastor

Reverend Dr. Michael D. Guthrie has been teaching the Bible for 30 years and is known for his quirky humor, life-related teaching, and practical instruction.
He and his wife, Cathy, are long time residents of Ross Township. Cathy owns and operates Maple Valley Farms, a small organic honey business. Pastor Mike, a pilot, enjoys flying small airplanes, remodeling, and the outdoors. The Guthries have two children. Their daughter Rebekah is a 2nd year graduate student at the University of Denver. Their son Joshua, a missionary pilot, gave his life in service in 2010 and is now safely home with Jesus.
Pastor Mike holds earned degrees from the Community College of Beaver County (AA/Professional Pilot), Taylor University-Fort Wayne (B.A.), Asbury Theological Seminary-KY (M. Div.), and United Theological Seminary-OH (D. Min). His doctorate was awarded for his creative development of a chronological Bible study on the life of Christ using the four Gospels. Pastor Mike has written a number of community Bible Studies, including "Struggling Against Spiritual Forces: A Biblical Strategy for Successful Living Amidst the Unseen World of Angels, Demons, and Satan" ; "Unleashing the Power of the Holy Spirit: A Bible View of the Holy Spirit: His Nature, His Work and His Gifts" ; "Moving Beyond Mediocrity: Practical Instruction on Shattering Religious Boredom and Spiritual Apathy" ; "Discovering the Life of Christ: A Biographical Study of the Life" ; and his recent "If I Should Die Before I Wake: Unlocking the Biblical View of Life After Death".
